Girls' V Lacrosse Rallies To Beat Perkiomen

Mercersburg came up big down the stretch and edged host Perkiomen School (Pennsburg, PA) 12-11 in a girls' varsity lacrosse match April 24.

After the long bus ride, the Storm came out ready to play and jumped on top 4-0 after the first quarter. But the Panthers came alive in the second quarter and cut the lead to 7-6 by halftime. Perkiomen continued to come on strong and moved ahead 11-10 midway through the fourth period, but Mercersburg scored the final two goals to take the win.

Head coach Kristin Ahlgren reported that, "Alishya Thurmond '26 had a career high seven goals and one assist to lead the Storm offensively while also playing tough defense and coming up with key draw control wins and ground balls." Emerson Lissette '24 scored twice (and added four assists) with Chloe Allis '25, Maria Rihn '24 and Nora Smith '24 adding one goal each. Allis was also credited with three assists.

Defensively, Scarlett McArthur '24 had six saves in goal and Nora Smith did an outstanding job faceguarding the Panthers' leading scorer.

Coach Ahlgren added, "It was an excellent team effort and team win!"

Mercersburg (5-6) will travel to Princeton, NJ to take on MAPL foe Hun on Saturday, April 24 at 1 pm.
