Girls' V Lacrosse Edges Shipley in OT

Hailey Chepren '23 scored the game-winner in overtime as the girls' varsity lacrosse team defeated host Shipley School (Bryn Mawr, PA) on April 19 by a final score of 12-11.

The game was tied at 6 at halftime and it was 11-all after regulation play, so clearly the two squads were pretty evenly matched. Head coach Kristin Ahlgren commented, "It was a nail-biter; grit and hustle got us through." Scarlett McArthur '24 did a great job in goal with a season-high 10 saves to keep Shipley at bay and Cameron Dotson '23 played strong on the defensive end as well. Chepren's winning score was her only goal of the game to go along with 2 assists. Zarreen Sorho '23 had a huge game with 5 goals, 2 assists, and 10 draw wins. Sister Zareena Sorho '23 scored 3 times while dishing out 2 assists. Linley Hill '23 added 2 goals and 2 assists and Emma Hobbs '23 scored the other Blue Storm goal.

The win extends the Mercersburg win streak to five games and gives the team a record of 7-3 with a Mid-Atlantic Prep League home game coming up against Peddie (Hightstown, NJ) on Saturday, April 22 at 1 pm.
