Girls' V Basketball Downs Broadfording

The girls' varsity basketball team pulled away in the second half to defeat visiting Broadfording Christian Academy 74-52 February 3.

Mercersburg build a 12-point lead early in the second quarter, but the Lions rallied to trail by just one at the half and actually briefly held the led early in the third quarter before the Storm found its rhythm. After falling behind 38-36, Mercersburg outscored Broadfording 38-14 the rest of the way to get the win. Annie Mohr '26 was one of four players in double figures, scoring 19 points. Nia Henley '24 and Madison Goodhart '24 scored 12 each while Raquel Cordero '24 added 11. Fanta Minteh '25 led all scorers by pouring in 30 of the Lions 52 points.

Head coach Paul Sipes commented, "This was tough to turn around after a big win at Hun last night and play another game just twelve hours after the bus dropped us off on campus. But we have good leadership and we play good defense, so it all worked out."

Next up for the Storm is a game at National Cathedral School (Washington, DC) on Tuesday, February 6 at 5:45 pm.
