The girls' varsity and JV squash teams defeated visiting Lancaster (PA) Country Day School February 1 by scores of 8-1 and 6-2, respectively.

The JV top four, Nina McDowell '25, Paloma Casariego '24, Avallina Orfield '25, and Jolie Zhu '26 all won their matches, though Zhu was extended to four games and McDowell had to battle from behind for a 3-2 victory. Casariego and Orfield cruised to 3-0 sweeps, as did Ruby Shang '24 at #6 and Lareina Wang '26 at #7.

There was less drama in the varsity match as the top eight players all shut out their opponents. Emilia Falconi '23 and Martina Vega '23 dominated in the top two spots, though the matches from 3-8 were more competitive. See the attached photo for complete match scores.

Mercersburg's varsity squad takes its 10-3 record into the Mid-Atlantic Squash Organization Tournament on Saturday, February 4, hosted by Potomac School (McLean, VA).  The tournament begins at 9 am. The JV team is now 3-1 and will play a rematch at Lancaster Country Day on Wednesday, February 8 at 4 pm.
