Girls' JV Lacrosse Gets One Win and One Loss

The Blue Storm girls' JV lacrosse team lost to Holton-Arms School (Bethesda, MD) 10-3 on April 20 but bounced back two days later to defeat the Hedgesville (WV) high school varsity squad 3-2.

Mercersburg faced multiple challenges from the weather, illness, and the "run and gun" style of play that host Holton-Arms threw at them. Head coach Jo Wrzesinsky noted that, "The girls played hard and continued to work on their transitions and self-regulating through the tough moments so although we lost, the coaches were proud of how hard they worked!"

In the Hedgesville game, the host Blue Storm got some payback against a team that defeated them 8-3 in the season's first contest back on March 29. "What a fun game to watch and be a part of!" said Coach Wrzesinsky. "Our team REALLY made an effort to put into place all that we had been working on this week in practice. The defense looked better than it has, the offense was making good use of space on and off ball, and our transitions had us finding teammates in the midfield and moving the ball well! This was an especially sweet win!"

Now 4-2 on the season, Mercersburg prepares for a home game against University High School (Morgantown, WV) on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:45 pm.
