Girls' Golf Hosts MAPL Championship

Mercersburg finished fifth in the MAPL girls' golf championship, which the Storm hosted at the Chambersburg Country Club April 30.

"The competition was tough and the course was playing hard," said head coach Doug Smith. "Abby Yang '25 had the best round of her career and made all-MAPL with a score of 82 that was good for a seventh place finish. Abby continued her excellent ball striking and consistent putting which has been a trademark of her season. Amanda Xi '25 and Kelsey Li '26 were next in line for the scoring with a 99 and a 101, respectively. Jessica Dang '26 was the final scorer for the Storm. Amanda Xi '25 finished her MAPL career with the honor of receiving the first ever Beth Allain Award. This award honors the golfer from each team that has displayed the most sportsmanship and integrity through the course of the year."

"I'm so happy for Abby!," added coach Smith. "She worked so hard on her game in practice and to see it come together today is a highlight of the season. Her steady and calm approach has really kept her game focused and sharp. What an outstanding round.  Amanda receiving the Beth Allain award is much deserved as she is a constant positive force on the team and an unwavering teammate and golfer."

The Storm ended the year with a record of 2-2-1 in match competition and will now prepare for the PAISAA state tournament on Monday, May 12 at the Radley Run Country Club in West Chester, PA.
