Girls' Cross Country Tops Madeira

Mercersburg easily defeated an outnumbered Madeira squad in the Girls' Cross Country portion of the M Cup competition between the two schools on September 21.

Madeira only brought three runners to Mercersburg for the race, not enough to obtain an official score, but the Blue Storm runners ran impressive races all the same.  Ella Blanco '26 once again led the way in a time of 22:39.  Erika Sowah '24, Clare Ip '23, and Leah Willis '24 finished within a minute of each other in places 2-4, and for Willis, her time of 26:57 was a season PR.  Linley Hill '23 crossed the line next for the Blue Storm with An Yan '26 and Gigi Devlin '24 coming across one minute later and only one second apart from each other.  Yan's time of 29:03 was a lifetime PR, a feat also achieved by Marli Elshasly (32:01).  Linden Wallace '25 ran a season best 30:25.

Mercersburg hits the road bright and early once again for the Carlisle Invitational, hosted by Carlisle (PA) Area high school on Saturday, September 24 at 8 a.m.
