Girls' Cross Country Competes at Carlisle Invitational

It was a strong showing for the Mercersburg Academy girls' cross country team at the Carlisle Invitational as all the varsity and JV runners posted either season or lifetime PR's.

The Blue Storm competed against about 40 teams in the varsity Challenge race. Mercersburg did not register an official team score due to unexpected illness, but the four runners who raced all ran exceptionally well. Ella Blanco '26 was once again Mercersburg's first across the line in a time of 20:49. Head coach Betsy Cunningham said, "It's a great downhill finish, and Ella was a beast running hard through the line." Blanco was followed by Clare Ip '23 (24:39), Leah Willis '24 (24:42) and Gigi Devlin '24 (26:01). An Yan '26 was the top JV finisher with a time (26:28) that beat her previous lifetime best by 2.5 minutes. The other JV racers were Bauhinia Chen '26 (27:13), Jaidee Promphan '25 (27:16), Linden Wallace '25 (28:23), and Scarlett McArthur '24 (30:30).

Mercersburg hosts five schools in its next meet that begins at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, October 1st.
