Football Team Rolls Over RMA

Deran Shippy '25 rushed for three touchdowns as the Blue Storm knocked off visiting Randolph-Macon Academy (Front Royal, VA) 48-14 in a Keystone State Football League game September 30.

Shippy carried the ball for 128 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 36, 9, and 68 yards in the first period and added a two-point conversion as he was responsible for nearly half of Mercersburg's points. Haris Yahaya '24 ran an interception back 15 yards for a defensive touchdown while Reed Warner '25 and Jelly Nguyen '24 also had rushing touchdowns for the Storm. Quarterback Kenneth Austin '27 converted twice on two-point conversion runs while Warner, Luke Hendricks '24, and Orhan Abalioglu '24 each added two-point conversions as the offensive line continually opened huge holes to run through. Mercersburg led 48-0 after three quarters before the Yellow Jackets scored on a couple of long touchdown passes in the final period.

Next up for the Blue Storm (1-1) is a game at Coventry Christian School (Pottstown, PA) on Saturday, October 6 at 7 pm. Coventry Christian is the newest member of the KSFL, bringing the 8-player league up to 8 schools.
