Mercersburg defeated visiting Girard College high school (Philadelphia) 32-14 in a Keystone State Football League contest September 14.
Frank Bonsal (25) scored three rushing touchdowns (on runs of 6, 10, and 2 yards) as the Storm raced out to an 18-0 first half lead. The Cavaliers scored on a pick-6 just before the half to make the score 18-6 at the midway point.
Bonsal added a 47-yard touchdown run at the end of the third quarter and Germany Johnson '25 scored on a 40-yard pass from quarterback Kenneth Austin '27 to put the game out of reach.
Reed Warner '25 had a big game on defense for Mercersburg, recording several tackles for loss from the linebacker position.
Mercersburg (1-0) will travel to Washington, DC to take on Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Friday, September 20 at 7 pm.
