Five Straight Wins for Girls' Varsity Basketball

Mercersburg opened its MAPL regular season with a 61-51 win over visiting Pennington (NJ) School December 9, running the team's win streak to five.

The Storm got off to a slow start and trailed the Red Hawks after the first period, but a 20-10 edge in the second quarter gave Mercersburg the lead at halftime. Pennington hung around through the second half, as the Storm pulled out to a lead of 8 or 9 points on a couple of occasions, only to see the Hawks claw their way back. In the final minutes, Mercersburg made the key plays and pulled out the win.

Nia Henley '24 led the way with 26 points while Annie Mohr '26 had 10 and Racquel Cordero Cordoba '24 added 6, including some clutch free throws in the final seconds.

Mercersburg takes its 5-0 (1-0 MAPL) record into a game at Connelly School of the Holy Child (Potomac, MD) on Tuesday, December 12 at 7 pm.
