Mercersburg Academy will host its annual Christmas Candlelight services Sunday, December 15, at 4 and 7:30 p.m. ET in the Irvine Memorial Chapel. For those who cannot attend in person, the service at 7:30 p.m. will be streamed live on the Academy’s website.
Participants in the service include the String Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Cameron; the Chorale, under the direction of Ben Demerath; the Chapel Choir, under the direction of James Brinson (who will perform on the school’s Swoope Carillon and the organ); School Minister Rev. Dr. Will Whitmore; and a number of readers representing the Academy community.
The service is free and open to all, though early arrival is suggested, as seating is limited. Brinson will give a carillon recital beginning one hour prior to each service.
A free-will offering will be collected to support Santa’s Toy Box, which is an initiative sponsored by the Mercersburg Rotary Club that brightens the holidays by providing toys and gifts to more than 150 local families (including more than 300 children).
