Christmas Candlelight Services Set for Sunday, December 14

Mercersburg Academy will host its annual Christmas Candlelight services on Sunday, December 14, at 4 and 7:30 p.m. ET in the Irvine Memorial Chapel. For those who cannot attend in person, the 7:30 p.m. service will be streamed live on the Academy website.

Participants in the services will include the Mercersburg String Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Cameron P ’26; the Mercersburg Chorale, the Mercersburg Magalia, and the Mercersburg Octet, under the direction of James Brinson; and many readers representing the Academy community. Rev. Derek Wadlington P ’18, ’20, ’23, pastor at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio, will officiate the services. Associate Head of School for School Life Dr. Julia Stojak Maurer ’90, P ’18, ’20, ’22, ’23, ’28 coordinated preparations for the event.

The services are free and open to all, though early arrival is suggested due to limited seating. Guest Carillonneur Jason Perry will give a carillon recital beginning one hour before each service.
