Boys' Varsity Soccer Edges Peddie

Mercersburg defeated visiting Peddie School (Hightstown, NJ) 2-1 in a MAPL boys' varsity soccer game October 26.

The Storm jumped out on top early when Christian Garcia-Rivas '27 scored off a Max Zhang '26 corner kick, and held the 1-0 lead until halftime. Early in the second half, Mercersburg extended the lead to 2-0 after another Zhang corner was tracked down by Max Strauss '25, who dribbled through several defenders before launching a shot that ricocheted in the direction of Arnav Rao '26, who sent it into the back of the net.

Peddie got within one with a late goal, but assistant coach Will Slater noted that "Arnav Rao and his and his center-back partner, Simon Brennan '26, held the line on defense to preserve the win.

Mercersburg is now 6-5-2 overall (2-2-1 in the MAPL) and has not suffered a loss since September. They will wrap up the regular season with a visit to Pottstown, PA to take on MAPL rival Hill School on Saturday, November 2 at 2:30 pm.
