Boys' V Tennis Once Again Defeats John Handley High

For the second time in two weeks, Mercersburg defeated visiting John Handley high school (Winchester, VA) in a boys' varsity tennis match, this time by an 8-1 count in a contest held on May 2 in the Hale Field House.

Mercersburg squeezed out a 5-4 victory on April 20 in a match played outdoors at the Smoyer Tennis Center, but on the indoor courts the Blue Storm almost pulled off the sweep. Arnav Pallopothu '23 (#2), Max Zhang '26 (#3), Logan Butts '23 (#4), Oscar Su '25 (#5), and Bent Reiche '24 (#6) each won their singles matches, with Butts going to a tiebreaker to pull out the 9-8 (7-4) win. Mercersburg took all three doubles contests with Jamie Talley '23 and Pallopothu taking the #1 slot while the team of Su/Butts won at #2 and Zhang/Simon Brennan '26 getting the win at #3.

The win is the third straight for the Blue Storm and improves their overall record to 9-5. Next up is a MAPL match at home against Hill on Saturday, May 6 at noon.
