Boys' V Squash Takes MASO Title

Mercersburg swept all three of its matches to cruise to the championship in the Mid-Atlantic Squash Organization Tournament, which was hosted by Woodberry Forest (VA) School.

The Blue Storm took down Gonzaga (Washington, DC), Potomac (McLean, VA), and St. Christopher's (Richmond, VA); all by 9-0 scores.

Mercersburg was the #1 seed going into the tournament, reflecting the respect that the team has earned over the past couple of seasons, this year in particular. This was the first MASO win in several years, and in the finals, the Blue Storm defeated a St. Christopher's squad that has lifted the trophy on multiple occasions.

"Every player stepped up to play their game," said head coach Ryan Tyree, "and notable performances came from senior Daniel Zhong '23, overcoming a 1-0 deficit to take his 3-1 victory, and Adrian Guijarro '25, seeing his first return to play for the team in the new year, back from some recovery work on a minor injury."

Mercersburg will travel (along with the girls' team) to Newtown Square, PA to take on Division 1 powerhouse Episcopal Academy on Wednesday, January 25 at 4:15 pm.
