Boys’ V Squash Goes 3–1 at Nationals

Mercersburg’s boys’ varsity squash team won three of its four matches February 25–27 at the 2022 US Squash High School Team Championships. The Blue Storm played in the Division III bracket, which held its matches at the University of Pennsylvania Squash Courts in Philadelphia.

The Storm defeated St. George’s in the tournament’s first match (5-2) before falling to Germantown Friends (4-3). In the consolation bracket, Mercersburg knocked off Mary Institute and Country Day School (of St. Louis, MO) by a 7-0 count, and then beat Springside Chestnut Hill, 6-1, to wrap up the tourney and place fifth in the draw.

Huzaifa Ibrahim ’24 went 4–0 in the tournament to finish with a perfect 17–0 mark for the season. Ibrahim played at the No. 1 spot on the ladder all year and did not surrender a single game.

Fawad Ali Jan ’24 and Azian Subhani ’23 compiled identical season records of 14–3 at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
