Boys' Squash Teams Sweep Lancaster Country Day

The boys' varsity and JV squash teams travelled to Lancaster (PA) to take on Lancaster Country Day School December 11 and both came home with 7-0 victories.

Several players at the top of the ladder rested in preparation for this weekend's US Open tournament, but their teammates stepped up and took care of business. The Storm won all seven matches by 3-0 scores, showing complete dominance.

"These matches are good for up-and-coming players," said head coach Dominic Benacquista, "as it provides them with an opportunity to execute simple strategies while maintaining focus. In matchups like these, it’s easy to get caught up and make unnecessary tactical errors or try to do something unnecessary. However, the boys remained composed and clinical in their approach, which was exactly what was needed. A job well done."

In the JV matchup, Lucas Chen '26 picked up the first win of his Mercersburg career, giving up just six points in a three game sweep, while Michael Zhang '26 and Jerry Sun '27 improved to 2-0 on the season.

The varsity squad has a 6-1 record, highlighted by Rayyan Khan ’27, who is currently 6-0. Finn Mauro ’27 also has a perfect record at 4-0. The next event for the team as a whole will be after Winter Break when Mercersburg hosts Wakefield School (The Plains, VA) on Wednesday, January 8 at 4:30 pm.
