The boys' golf team finished sixth in the Peddie School's annual Swing Against Cancer golf tournament April 28. All the proceeds of this event, which has been held annually since 2012, go to the fight against cancer.
Head coach Doug Smith summed up the event with the following: "Leading the way for the Storm was Miles New '27, who fired an excellent 79 that featured high quality iron play and a mental toughness to stay in the round. Matthew Gu '27 shot an 82 after going four-over on the first two holes. He then proceeded to par eleven of the next sixteen holes, showing outstanding grit. Next in line was Jackson McLear '28 who rode a very good start to post a rock solid 84. To round out the scoring was Stewart Allan '27 with an 85 that had the ball striking of a very good round."
"This was a good effort by the boys and we are moving in a positive direction," coach Smith added. "All four scorers showed signs of improvement and each of their rounds could've been lower. I am hoping we build upon this round and springboard another level for the MAPL Championship. We know we have it in us, we just gotta let it happen."
The MAPL Championship will be hosted by Pennington School at Beden's Brook Golf Course (Skillman , NJ) on Wednesday, April 30 at 11 am.
