Blue Storm Football Rolls Past Perkiomen

Ryan MacInnes '23 scored 36 of Mercersburg's 38 points as the Blue Storm soundly defeated visiting Perkiomen 38-18 September 30.

Mercersburg marched down the field on its opening drive to take a 6-0 lead, but the Panthers responded with a long 60-yard touchdown catch and run to tie things up.  The Blue Storm then scored the next 24 points and dominated Perkiomen on both sides of the ball for the next two periods.  Luke Hendricks '24 was a major disruptive force on defense, coming up with several tackles-for-loss, and proving to be nearly unblockable.  Perkiomen hit on a couple more long TD passes in the final quarter, but by then Mercersburg was firmly in control.

MacInnes scored on runs of 5, 9, 15, and 3 yards, and also made a fantastic catch of a 35-yard pass from Luke Golumbic '23 for a five touchdown day.  He converted three two-point conversions for his final total of 36 points.  Zeke Wadlington '23 ran in the final two-point conversion attempt to complete the Blue Storm scoring.

Next up for Mercersburg (2-1) is a home contest against Model Secondary School for the Deaf (Washington, DC) on Saturday, October 8 at 2 p.m.
