Bishop Walsh School (Cumberland, MD) scored five in the second and six in the third to down host Mercersburg 16-4 in a varsity softball game April 13.
Each team scored a run in the first, but the Spartans exploded in the second inning with four straight hits including back-to-back home runs to build a lead, and were on top 12-1 midway through the third. The Blue Storm scored twice in the bottom of the third to stay within range, but the game was ultimately stopped after six due to the 10-run rule. The loss snaps a two-game win streak and moves the team record to 3-5.
Kam Jenkins '26 had two of Mercersburg's three hits and she and Ava Guzic '25 each scored two runs. Brooke Adams of Bishop Walsh struck out nine Blue Storm batters while Quin Caretti '24 went the distance for Mercersburg and collected eight strikeouts.
In a quick turnaround, the Blue Storm will host Madeira (McLean, VA) for an M Cup battle on Friday, April 14 at 4:30 pm.
