St. Maria Goretti (Hagerstown, MD) scored 12 runs in the second inning on their way to defeating the visiting Blue Storm varsity baseball team 19-9 May 10.

The Gaels rapped out six hits (including two home runs) in the big inning and led 15-1 after two. Mercersburg battled back and scored six runs in the top of the fifth to bring it to 16-9, but Goretti tacked on three more in the bottom of the fifth to win the game by the 10-run rule.

Adam Deavers '23 led the Storm with three hits while Arjun Patel '23 had two and Caleb Newcomer '23 and Danny Adusei-Poku '23 each homered.

Mercersburg is now 10-7 and will host Peddie (Hightstown, MD) in a MAPL doubleheader on Friday, May 12 beginning at 2 pm.
