Cool breezes and gentle autumn drizzle awaken campus as Mercersburg prepares to welcome back families and alumni to their heartfelt home from Friday, September 27, to Sunday, September 29, for Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Parents are encouraged to join the lunch with advisers, happening on Friday, while younger alumni are invited to reconnect during a social gathering at Stoners on the Square from 9 to 10 p.m. Additionally, Step Songs and the bonfire, rich traditions for Mercersburg, will take place in front of Main Hall and Tippetts Beach respectively. All attendees are welcome to participate.
Other highlights of this weekend include an update from Head of School Quentin McDowell P ’25, ’27, an Art Showcase and Storm athletic contests, information sessions with the Office of College Counseling, and an alumni coed soccer game. More information on the specific schedule can be found on the school website.
During the morning of Saturday, September 28, all parents are invited to the College Deans’ Panel from 10:30-11:30 a.m. where college admission professionals will discuss the current landscape of college admission and answer questions. Mercersburg is thrilled to introduce the following panelists: Candice Duckworth, regional associate director of admissions at the University of Vermont; Jeff Gallant, senior associate director of admission at Boston College; and Ana del Puerto, senior associate director of admission at the University of Pennsylvania.
All meals and events are complimentary, and a self-guided tour packet and map will be available in the Simon Student Center in Ford Hall. For school merchandise and souvenirs, the Class of 1960 School Store—also located in the same building—will be open for all three days. Visitors can post on social media throughout the weekend using #MburgFamily.
Families who are unable to attend will be able to follow along via the school's Instagram and Facebook accounts. Additionally, video of the head of school’s update and an audio recording of the deans’ panel will be available.
