Music Students Selected for PMEA District Band, Orchestra

Mercersburg Academy student trumpet player Linden Amster ’23 was chosen for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s 2020 District 7 Band. 

Amster (of Gettysburg, PA) successfully auditioned December 7 at the PMEA auditions, which were held at Eastern York Senior High School in Wrightsville, PA. He attended and performed at the District Band festival February 13-15 at Annville-Cleona High School in Annville, PA.

CJ Hoffman ’22, of Harrisburg, PA, who plays violin, auditioned (December 7) and performed with District Orchestra January 30-February 1 at Lampeter-Strasburg High School in Lancaster, PA.

Justin An ’23 (violinist, of Fort Lee, NJ ) and Duncan Besch ’22 (double bass, of Frederick, MD) also auditioned for District Orchestra on December 7. 

“District 7 auditions are always so competitive," said Bryan Morgan ’07, arts faculty. "The extra work the musicians have to put in on top of their school duties is a difficult task. I am very proud of these students who took on that challenge!”

PMEA’s District 7 encompasses eight counties in south-central Pennsylvania: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York.
