Campus Unveils Upgrades as 2025 Projects Transform Learning, Living Spaces

Numerous campus projects were tackled during 2025, including:

  • Dining Center at Ford Hall renovations
  • Temporary dining hall established in the Hale Field House
  • Mobile kitchen utilized in the Hale Field House parking lot
  • Regents’ Field lighting installation
  • Outdoor basketball court near Regents’ Field
  • Davenport Squash Center court renovations
  • Dorm common rooms refresh
  • Irvine Memorial Chapel window refurbishment, beginning with “Sermon on the Mount” window
  • Chapel pipe organ revitalization
  • Irvine Hall fifth-floor renovation to create a new space for robotics lab

While the school’s capital budget covered some of the work, many of the projects were funded through the philanthropic generosity of alumni, parents, and friends via direct gifts or through contributions to the Annual Fund, highlighting the impact of giving at Mercersburg.

Here’s a brief overview of the projects:

  1.  Dining Center at Ford Hall
The new Dining Center at Ford Hall is scheduled to open in early 2026 and includes full renovations to the kitchen, servery, dining room, lounges, and lobby, as well as new outdoor spaces. Two covered porches have been added to the front of the building and will be used for special events and backpack storage during meals. The dining area renovation includes a new floor and ceiling, new lighting, new tables and chairs, and the installation of a pizza oven.

  2. Temporary Dining at Hale Field House
During the dining center renovation, most of the Hale Field House was turned into a temporary dining room, and a mobile kitchen was set up in the field house parking lot.

  3. Lights at Regents’ Field
Lights have been installed at Regents’ Field to enable night games and outdoor play from early spring to late fall. The lights have the ability to “dance,” and the poles can change color, functions that can be controlled remotely. The new lighting system features enhanced glare control, keeping light focused on the field and out of the surrounding area.

  4. Outdoor Basketball Court
An outdoor basketball court was added near Regents’ Field to allow for outdoor play. Underground pathways were installed for a future lighting system, pending funding availability.

  5. Squash Courts Renovation
The Davenport Squash Center underwent a renovation, featuring rebuilt walls, additional structural supports, new hardwood floors, and freshly painted lines. The courts were ready for play when the students returned after summer vacation.

  6. Dorm Common Rooms Refresh
The primary common rooms for Tippetts, Fowle, and Main halls have undergone a complete makeover to provide an inviting and relaxing environment where students can gather and engage with one another. The remaining dormitories’ common rooms will see this update in summer 2026. Based on the recommendations of an interior designer, not only will furniture be updated, but the floors, walls, ceilings, and cabinets will also have a brand-new look. Appliances will also be updated.
