Lorenger Takes 3rd at Paul Clovis BXC Invite
Mick Lorenger ’22 led the way with a third-place individual finish and Mercersburg’s boys’ cross country team took fourth place out of eight teams at the Paul Clovis Invitational, which was hosted by Hampshire High School October 2 in Romney, WV.
Lorenger posted a time of 18:30 and ran with the lead pack for the entire race. Cole Smith ’23 took 15th (20:08.9), Josh Terris ’22 was 17th (20:28.6), Jake Cruikshank ’24 placed 20th (20:44.4), and Winston Watkins ‘25 was 23rd (20:55).
"This was a good test for Mick, because he was able to battle against some good competition throughout the race," said Mercersburg head coach David Grady. "He responded well and he held up better than some of the other competitors in the later stages of the race. Our second through fifth runners form a nice pack and the order within the pack has been somewhat fluid. Those runners all had solid performances today. We just need that pack of runners to keep improving and moving a little further up to make more gains as a team."
The Blue Storm returns to action Friday, October 15, in a quad meet at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA (4 p.m.).
