Koduru ran much of the boys’ race in fourth place before passing two runners in the final stages of the race, while holding off two other fast charging runners behind him. He finished 23rd at last year’s MAPL meet; this year, Koduru finished ahead of 10 runners who had beaten him in last year’s championship.

“Of special note, we had three of our varsity six runners post lifetime PRs,” said Mercersburg head girls’ coach Betsy Cunningham. “This is especially relevant since the course is known to be hilly and difficult. So congratulations to Grace (who is one of our captains), Greta, and Clara.”

Harry Carter of Hun (16:35) took the boys’ varsity race, while Lawrenceville’s Charlotte Bednar (17:35) won the girls’ race for the second consecutive year.
