“Aakash looked great and he was able to maintain a strong pace despite running much of the race by himself,” said Mercersburg boys’ head coach David Grady. “It will be interesting to see how he responds in a larger field of top runners. Aakash and Pablo are coming into the season having done some summer training and it showed in their races. We need the other runners to keep improving their fitness for us to get more competitive as a team.”
“Addie had a great race,” Blue Storm girls’ head coach Betsy Cunningham said. “Anna, in particular, had an amazing race today. She looks strong and confident. She has turned out to be a truly great leader and captain on the team. [Co-captain] Grace Lewis ’20 was struggling with some sickness today but ended up running such a strong time in the JV section that she finished sixth overall for us. Grace and Anna have been working together really well and their leadership strengths compliment each other tremendously.”
Both Blue Storm teams will compete Saturday, September 14, at the Ben Bloser Invitational at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
