Mercersburg’s girls’ cross country team ran against four other Mid-Atlantic Prep League schools in a virtual meet to conclude the unusual 2020 season; the Blue Storm placed second out of the five teams thanks to strong performances from Addie Geitner ’21 and Greta Lawler ’23.

The Blue Storm tallied 63 points to place second in the team standings. Lawrenceville (30 points) won the event, followed by Mercersburg and then Blair (77), Hill (85), and Peddie (145).

Each team competed on its own home course, and times were adjusted to correspond to the difficulty and elevation of each course. Geitner took second (21:36) and Lawler was seventh (22:50) in the event, which was won by Lawrenceville’s Allison Haworth (21:02).

Monique Garcia ’22 (23:35, 13th), Leah Willis ’24 (24:21, 20th), and Lois Hargrove ’21 (24:31, 21st) were the other point scorers for Mercersburg.

“This was a special race because eight of our 16 kids are seniors,” Mercersburg head coach Betsy Cunningham said. “We will certainly miss them next year.”
