Despite a shorthanded roster, Mercersburg’s girls’ cross country team fought through adversity September 18 at the Ben Bloser Bulldog Invitational to place sixth out of 13 teams.

Top finisher Greta Lawler ’23 posted a lifetime personal record, as did teammates Anne Sehon ’25 and Linley Hill ’23. The team’s other three finishers (Leah Willis ’24, Erika Sowah ’24, and Paula Lurueña Marquez ’23) recorded season PRs.

"This is one of the hardest courses that we race all year, so I am extremely proud of my top six who raced in the varsity meet," said Mercersburg head coach Betsy Cunningham. "They were able to charge up 'Kill Hill,' which is notoriously challenging since it falls within the last 800m of the race.  Unfortunately, we needed to pull out of the JV race due to the extreme weather conditions; the safety of our athletes is of utmost importance. The entire team will look forward to racing again in Carlisle next Saturday."

Individual results:
Greta Lawler 21:40
Anne Sehon 21:47
Leah Willis 25:19
Erika Sowah 26:38
Linley Hill 26:54
Paula Lurueña Marquez 27:40
