Girls’ V Tennis Edged at Bullis
Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity tennis team fell to a strong Bullis School squad by a score of 4-3 on September 28 in Potomac, MD.
Playing five singles and two doubles matches (an unusual format for both teams), the Blue Storm needed to win four matches in order to come out victorious, and fell one short.
Bullis was very strong at the top of the ladder. Their #1, #2, and #3 singles players only surrendered three games total to Mercersburg’s trio of Hisano Enomoto ’25, Isabel Su ’23, and Dayoung Kim ’23, despite the best efforts of Mercersburg’s top singles players.
Meanwhile, the first doubles team of Izzy Jones ’22 and Sam Jacobs ’23 was in command of their match, looking to attack he net and finish points quickly. They went on to a convincing 8-3 victory. With Camille Smith ’22 at #4 singles, Mogere Nyakoe ’25 at #5 singles, and Jaime Hyung ’23 and MC Miro ’23 at #2 doubles still on court, there was still hope for a Blue Storm victory.
The next match to finish was the #2 doubles match, clinching the contest for Bullis. When Smith and Nyakoe outlasted their opponents in impressive fashion, the margin of victory was narrowed to 4-3.
