Girls’ V Soccer Wins Fourth Straight
Nora Smith ’24 and Susan Concordia ’22 scored two goals apiece to keep the hot streak alive for Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity soccer team in a 4-2 win over visiting Musselman High School September 30 in Mercersburg.
Concordia’s first goal of the game came early in the first half, and held up into the second frame before the Applewomen scored on a pair of breakaway goals. Smith tied the game at 2-2 with her first goal, then scored again after a tense 10-minute stretch of physical play. Concordia tacked on an insurance goal to bring the game to its 4-2 final.
"Kyla Moore ’24, Maddie Goodhart ’24, and Emma Hobbs ’23 played beautifully in the midfield to hold possession and help run down the clock," said Blue Storm head coach Kristen Pixler. "It was another wonderful team effort. I look forward to another great game this coming weekend against Jefferson."
Grace Carter ’23 and Caroline Simpson ’22 combined for eight saves in goal.
Mercersburg (5-3 overall) hosts Jefferson High School Saturday, October 2, at 2 p.m. (Watch a livestream of the contest.)
