Girls’ V Soccer Cruises Past Washington

Kate Prentiss ’21 and Tanaka Mukudzavhu ’20 scored two goals apiece and Annie Klaff ’20 provided a pair of assists to lift Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity soccer team to a 5-1 road victory over Washington High School on a cool night October 17 in Charles Town, W.Va.

The Blue Storm (6-7) won its second road game this week; Prentiss also found the net twice in a 2-1 win at McConnellsburg October 15.

Mukudzavhu opened the scoring in the 18th minute off an assist by Annie Klaff ’20, and Prentiss scored an unassisted tally in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 heading into intermission.

Prentiss made it 3-0 with another unassisted goal in the 49th minute, Mukudzavhu increased the lead to 4-0 in the 59th minute, and after the host Patriots got on the board in the 68th minute, Julia Borger ’20 tacked on the final goal of the night in the 75th, courtesy of Klaff’s second assist.

Alex Coenjaerts ’20 made five saves to earn the win in goal.

Mercersburg hosts Mid-Atlantic Prep League rival Peddie School Saturday, October 19. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
