Maddie Goodhart ’24 scored the game’s first goal to give Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity soccer team a halftime lead, and the Blue Storm poured it on visiting St. James with four goals in the second half of a 5-0 win over the Saints September 29 on Regents’ Field.

Cate Vickery ’22, Caroline Wilkinson ’23, and Nora Smith ’24 scored the other goals for the Storm (4-3 overall), which has won its last three contests.

“Each player showed up and we played as a unified and connected team,” said Mercersburg head coach Kristen Pixler. “Each of our goals resulted from a team effort and beautiful quick movement to penetrate the defense. Hannah King ’23 and Paloma Tellez ’22 closed down the St. James attack and allowed our offensive team to be secure and creative in their high-pressure attack.”

Mercersburg hosts the second of three straight home matches Thursday, September 30, when the Blue Storm welcomes Musselman High School (Inwood, WV) to campus. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
