Girls’ V Lacrosse Sends Seniors Off with 20-Goal Effort

Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team got strong performances from both of its seniors in a 20-0 win over visiting John Handley High School in the Blue Storm’s regular season finale May 14 at Regents’ Field.

Both seniors, Maddie Schermerhorn ’22 and Bridget Ahlgren ’22, had outstanding performances. Schermerhorn, typically a defender, stepped up to score two goals and provide two assists. She also had one interception, one caused turnover, and one ground ball. Ahlgren, a midfielder, scored five goals and had one assist, one interception, one caused turnover, one ground ball, and four draw controls. Both are captains for the Storm, and the game was an excellent way to end the regular-season portion of their Mercersburg careers. 

In addition to the seniors' scoring,  Zarreen Sorho '23 scored six goals and had two assists, Linley Hill '23 scored three goals and had three assists, Hailey Chepren '23 scored two goals and had two assists, Sammy Titus '23 scored a goal and added four assists, and Cameron Dotson '23 scored a goal and had two assists. 

The Storm (9-5) now awaits its seeding and schedule for the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association State Tournament.
