Ava Hull ’21 led all scorers with 18 points and Cate Vickery ’22 added 12 points in a strong all-around performance to lead Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity basketball team to the first of two wins in a four-hour span, 44-30, over visiting Shalom Christian Academy December 13 in the first game of the Stuff the Basket Showcase in the Plantz Courts.

Mercersburg’s defense held the Flames to just 10 points in the first half, en route to a 21-10 halftime edge. Vickery hit a trio of three-point baskets, and Zoe Gooch ’20 chipped in seven points.

The Blue Storm defeated Cumberland Valley Christian School, 62-29, in the nightcap to improve to 4-2 on the season. Mercersburg finishes the Stuff the Basket Showcase Saturday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. against local foe McConnellsburg High School. Fans are asked to bring cash donations for the Tuscarora Totes program (which fights hunger in Franklin County) in lieu of an admission fee.
