Girls’ V Basketball Downed at Lawrenceville

Playing shorthanded without two of its top players, Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity basketball team dropped a 56–36 decision at Mid-Atlantic Prep League foe Lawrenceville February 12 in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Rachel Hull ’23 led the Blue Storm with 13 points, while Leilani Isel-Register ’24 added 10 points. 

It was the close of a tough road trip for Mercersburg (4–9, 0–5 MAPL), which led the Hun School of Princeton after each of the first three quarters February 11 before the host Raiders outscored the Storm 18–5 in the fourth for a 59–49 win. Hull had 23 points and Isel-Register contributed 14 points.

Mercersburg visits local rivals St. James (Tuesday, February 15, 6 p.m.) and McConnellsburg (Wednesday, February 16, 7:15 p.m.) before opening the MAPL Tournament Friday, February 18, with a first-round game against Lawrenceville at 5 p.m. in Blairstown, NJ. The Storm will play again Saturday, February 19, at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. (depending on the results of Friday’s contest).
