Seniors Jolie Viener (#12) and Kate Prentiss celebrate a goal

Jolie Viener ’21 was one of three players to score two goals apiece as Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity soccer program celebrated its seniors in the final Blue/White Series contest of the 2020 season October 30. Viener, Susan Concordia ’22, and Cate Vickery ’22 all scored twice and Viener’s fellow senior Kate Prentiss ’21 also scored to lead the White Team to a 7–2 victory.

It marked the final contest for seven of the program’s seniors (Prentiss, Viener, Lucy Bowman ’21, Liz Kendrick ’21, Nai’a Jurgensen ’21, Chantler Newton ’21, and Victoria Taperova ’21), who all played on the victorious White Team.

The White Team led 2–0 at halftime after Vickery opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed soon after by Viener’s first goal in the 22rd minute. It was 4–0 following goals early in the second half by Concordia and Vickery before Emma Hobbs ’23 wiped out the shutout with a goal for the Blue Team in the 48th minute. After Viener and Prentiss scored to make it 6–1, Caroline Wilkinson ’23 and Concordia added tallies for the Blue and White teams, respectively, to bring the game to its 7–2 final score.
