Mercersburg Academy’s girls’ golf team edged out visiting Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, VA) for a two-stroke victory (213-215) in a nine-hole match played April 2 at Chambersburg Country Club.

Led by Amanda Xi '25, who fired a 46 to earn medalist honors, the Blue Storm pulled out a narrow victory by to secure their first-ever official girls’ golf win. Sihyeon Bae ’24 posted a 53 to place second in the scoring, while Abby Yang ’25 carded a 56 and Sandra Apfelroth ’22 had a 58 to round out the scoring.

"We weren’t at our best today, but it was great to see the girls get the season's first victory," said Mercersburg head coach Doug Smith. "Amanda played a solid round today, and I expect that to continue, but the nice part is the team as a whole has a lot of potential to lower their scores across the board."

The Blue Storm (1-1) hits the road Saturday, April 9, to face The Hill School at Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, PA (2 p.m.).
