Girls' Basketball

Girls basketball plays Peddie at Mercersburg Academy.

The girls’ basketball program trains and competes on the Plantz Courts, a 10,000-square-foot facility that houses three full-sized courts. Off-court training takes place in the McDowell Fitness Center, which features contemporary equipment and programming geared for athletic development. Head coach Paul Sipes has won nine conference coach of the year awards during his career and has been named a state coach of the year in both Maryland and Virginia.

Mercersburg won the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association girls’ basketball state championship in 2016, setting a school record for wins in a season (19).

Off-season work includes time at summer camp; several players have attended the nationally recognized Point Guard College in the last few years. Players may also participate in individual and small group skill sessions during the year.

Recent alumni have played at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, as well as at the professional level in the Women’s British Basketball League.
