Our Community
Located in the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania just a few miles north of the Maryland state line, the picturesque Borough of Mercersburg dates to 1780 and is home to approximately 1,500 people. The borough includes a historic district with structures from the 18th century, and surrounding areas figured prominently in the Civil War. The town is located in southwestern Franklin County among rolling hills and farmland and not far from the Tuscarora Mountain ridge.

Tuscarora Hiking Trail – 10 minutes
More than 250 miles in length, the trail traverses the Buchanan State Forest and rises from an elevation of 1,300 feet to 2,460 feet. It provides an interesting variety of scenic views and historic sites.

Site of the Civil War’s most significant battle, the town of Gettysburg includes a visitor center, monuments, historical markers, national cemetery, and the Eisenhower Farm. Shops and restaurants line the downtown, which is also home to the Majestic Theater and Gettysburg College.
Harpers Ferry, WV – 1 hour
A national historic park, Harpers Ferry was the scene of John Brown’s Raid before the Civil War. The town, which was strategically placed above the Potomac, was traded between Union and Confederate forces throughout the war.
Hershey, PA – 1 hour 30 minutes
Home of Hershey Chocolate World and Hersheypark, the town of Hershey also offers entertainment venues that include the Giant Center, Hershey Theatre, and Hersheypark Stadium.
Baltimore, MD – 1 hour 45 minutes
Attractions in Baltimore include the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, Fort McHenry, USS Constellation, and Hippodrome Theatre, as well as the Orioles and Ravens baseball and football teams. The city boasts many fine restaurants, including those in Little Italy and Fells Point.

A major center for Amish life and culture, Lancaster features traditional farms, food and craft markets, roadside stands, and restaurants. Downtown Lancaster is home of Franklin & Marshall College and a vibrant arts and culinary scene, including the Fulton Theatre and a number of art galleries, while beyond the city lie entertainment options that include Dutch Wonderland and the American Music Theatre.
