Understanding Your Award
Mercersburg Academy relies upon the methodology of School and Student Services (SSS) to calculate financial aid awards. Like many schools, however, Mercersburg uses its own discretion to reconcile the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) with information provided on your family’s tax forms and to account for individual circumstances that may impact your family’s Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). This may include an adjustment for cost of living, anticipated tuition payments for other children, recent medical expenses, or other exceptional circumstances.
We ask that you notify the Office of Admission of your enrollment decision by April 10. Should you choose to decline the enrollment offer, please notify us as promptly as possible so that your financial aid award may be offered to a student in the financial aid wait-list. We appreciate your sensitivity toward these students and their families.
Financial Aid Appeals
Applicants for financial aid are permitted to submit one appeal for additional financial aid. To appeal, a family must submit a financial aid appeal form, all new supporting documentation, and a written letter of appeal directly to the Office of Admission. All appeals will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee in as timely a manner as possible. Please note that the Financial Aid Committee does not guarantee that a financial aid appeal will result in additional financial aid.
