Field Hockey Beats Hun in Season Finale
Mercersburg’s field hockey team sent its six seniors out in style with a 6-0 win over Mid-Atlantic Prep League foe Hun School of Princeton November 3 on Regents’ Field. Taylor Chepren ’21 scored three goals, and three members of the senior class (Annaliesse Cantera ’20, Megan McGregor ’20, and Julie Trapanese ’20) notched either a goal or an assist (or, in Cantera’s case, both: a goal and two assists). Fellow senior Ryer Hastings ’20 started in goal and helped lead the defensive shutout for the Blue Storm (8-8, 2-3 MAPL), which recorded its sixth blanking of an opponent this year.
The scoring began when Virginia Jones ’21 finished a shot by Cantera for a 1-0 lead. Cantera then took a pass from Trapanese to make it 2-0, and then Cantera fed McGregor for the game’s third goal. Izzy Jones ’22 fed Chepren for a 4-0 lead just before the end of the first half.
Chepren scored both second-half goals, including the finale, which was assisted by Bridget Ahlgren ’22.
The game was the final one in Mercersburg blue for seniors Cantera, Hastings, McGregor, Trapanese, Maggie Quick ’20, and Aba Sankah ’20.
