A webinar featuring Kate Stroup Brooks ’72 (top right)

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and with a goal of keeping the greater alumni body as connected as ever, Mercersburg Academy is hosting a number of free virtual events to bring its alumni together this spring.

Find information about (and register for) a variety of upcoming virtual events.

Dr. Kate Stroup Brooks ’72, executive director of the Career Center at Vanderbilt University, hosted an April 14 session with members of the Class of 2016 (many of whom are completing their undergraduate degrees this spring). She discussed the disruption in the job and internship markets as well as the actions job seekers can take to stay focused.

Upcoming events planned are focusing on discussions surrounding bias and inequality toward the LGBTQ community (featuring Diane Schrom '08, April 20; register here),  female entrepreneurs (featuring Maggie Goff '10, April 23; register here); virtual book club sessions with student members (and alumni members) of The Fifteen with Director of Library Services Alexandra Patterson (April 27 and 30); and a session on the Irvine Memorial Chapel's stained-glass windows with School Minister Will Whitmore (April 29).

Another popular program already in progress is the Virtual Class Happy Hour event series. More than 300 alumni have already "attended" a total of 16 Virtual Class Happy Hours, with several more events scheduled in the near future. A number of classes have even held multiple Virtual Happy Hours, and rumor has it that one class is planning a "Quarantine Halloweeni" theme for its next virtual gathering.

Members of the Class of 2018 enjoy a Virtual Happy Hour
