Commencement 2020: Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Student Speakers Announced

Mercersburg Academy has announced the lineup of students in the Class of 2020 who will speak at the school’s Virtual Commencement exercises for this year’s senior class, to be held online Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. ET. Sean Fiscus ’20 (La Vale, MD) is valedictorian of the class, while Shannon Fan ’20 (Beijing, China) is salutatorian.

Aidan Ferrin ’20 (Bozeman, MT) and Caroline Kranich ’20 (State College, PA) are this year’s Schaff Orators. Fiscus, Fan, Ferrin, and Kranich will all address their classmates during the Commencement ceremony, as will Senior Class President Jesse Zhang ’20 (Beijing, China) and Student Council President Aba Sankah ’20 (Bradenton, FL). Grace Lewis ’20 (Greencastle, PA) and Campbell Prentiss ’20 (Andover, MA) will serve as class marshals.

Other participants in the ceremony will include Head of School Katie Titus P ’20, ’23; Board of Regents President Deborah Simon ’74; School Minister Rev. Will Whitmore; and invited Commencement speaker Vincent Rey ’06.

Mercersburg’s Class of 2020 includes 123 members, representing 16 American states (plus the District of Columbia) and 13 nations of the world. Members of the class have been accepted at a total of 240 different colleges and universities.
