Clone of Commencement Weekend

Celebrate Mercersburg’s Class of 2020!

Virtual Commencement: Saturday, May 23
On-campus Commencement: Date TBD

We honored and saluted the Class of 2020 with a Virtual Commencement Saturday, May 23.

The ceremony contained many of the traditional elements of an on-campus ceremony, including music chosen by the class, student speeches, class marshals, the reading of names and awarding of the diplomas, the presentation of the senior class gift, special awards from the school, and the Commencement address from invited speaker, former NFL player, and Mercersburg alumnus Vincent Rey ’06 (pictured above).

Read a brief recap of the ceremony.

Student speakers at the ceremony included Sean Fiscus ’20 (valedictorian), Shannon Fan ’20 (salutatorian), Aidan Ferrin ’20 and Caroline Kranich ’20 (Schaff Orators), Jesse Zhang ’20 (senior class president), and Aba Sankah ’20 (student council president). The class marshals were Grace Lewis ’20 and Campbell Prentiss ’20.

A number of academic awards for members of the senior class were announced prior to the ceremony: watch a video announcing the award winners or see a list of the honorees.

Graduates (and families) are asked to send us a selfie from graduation day! Send us your pictures to or post using the hashtag #mburggrad2020 so we can celebrate you on social media.

On-campus Commencement

On-campus Commencement is planned for a date to be determined (when the school determines it is reasonable and safe to gather together on campus). It is anticipated that Commencement will take place in its traditional location on the lawn between Keil Hall and South Cottage.

Information will be conveyed to members of the Class of 2020 and their families and posted here as soon as it is finalized.
