Residential Life

Residential Life Overview

Mercersburg is a true boarding school—about 85 percent of our students live on campus. The residential experience at Mercersburg educates the whole student, both in and out of the classroom.

The residence experience builds a strong community through evening and weekend activities, such as club meetings, study groups, off-campus trips, and much more. The student activities committee keeps dorm life active with pizza study breaks, dances, concerts, and much more.

Living on campus helps you get to know your teachers better because most faculty members also live there. Many of them even live in the dorms. In fact, up to 17 faculty members are active in each dorm as advisers, residents, coaches, or friends—and there’s at least one faculty apartment on each floor of every dormitory.
Founded in 1893 in the heart of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic, Mercersburg is a private, coed, college preparatory boarding school with approximately 435 students (15 percent are day), grades 9-12 and postgraduate.
We offer 170 courses, including AP and Honors, more than $7 million in financial aid, 26 varsity sports, and a state-of-the-art performing and visual arts center.
Located 90 minutes from Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, and within easy driving distance of New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.
