Health and Wellness

Caring for the whole student.

The Rutherford Health and Wellness Center, located on McFarland Road near the Hale Field House, strives to provide the most exceptional health care possible to our students. The Health Center is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week while school is in session, and a licensed nurse is on duty around the clock. Students may be seen by scheduled appointment or on a walk-in basis. In addition to a staff that includes licensed nurses, nurse practitioners, and the school physician, our Health Center medical team also includes athletic trainers who work closely with the Health Center to care for sports-related injuries. Counseling and Psychological Services

As a part of our interest in student well-being, the Rutherford Health and Wellness Center includes the Rahauser Counseling Center, which provides the services of licensed mental health counselors on a short-term basis to students who desire help with growth and development. Additional Physical or Psychological Care

If a student requires medical services other than those provided by the school, the Health Center staff will assist in arranging appointments with outside providers as necessary. Additional services are available through Meritus Family Medicine in Hagerstown, Maryland. Whenever additional diagnostic or treatment procedures are needed, Meritus Health in Hagerstown offers a staff of consultants trained in most health specialties.

In addition to our own counselors in the Rahauser Counseling Center, outside referrals are available. While meetings with our counselors at Mercersburg Academy are included in tuition fees, meetings with outside licensed professionals are handled on a “fee for service” basis and any costs are the responsibility of the family.
