Boys’ XC Takes 4th at MAPL Championships
Mick Lorenger ’22 finished 10th to lead Mercersburg’s boys’ cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the six-team Mid-Atlantic Prep League Championships October 27 in Pottstown, PA.
The Blue Storm compiled 122 points, ahead of Blair (124) and host Hill (129). Lawrenceville (50) edged out Hun (51) and Peddie (51) in the team standings.
Lorenger ran the 5K course in 17:59.8. Evan Howley ’22 was the next Mercersburg finisher (25th, 19:59.37), followed by Cole Smith ’23 (27th, 20:07.14), Winston Watkins ’25 (29th, 20:22.23), and Jake Cruikshank ’24 (31st, 20:26.34).
“You always hope for big performances in your league meet,” said Mercersburg head coach David Grady. “Unfortunately, that did not happen for any of our guys today. We seemed to have lost a little momentum over the long fall weekend break that just occurred. It was unfortunate timing, but I also think we should have been able to absorb the impact of that long weekend away a bit better than we did.”
