Boys’ V Squash Taken Out at Nationally Ranked Haverford

Monday, January 31, 2022

Mercersburg’s boys’ varsity squash team made the trek to Philadelphia’s Main Line January 31 to face The Haverford School, which is ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Blue Storm expected its toughest match of the season, and got it as the Fords defeated the visitors, 8–1.

At the No. 1 spot, Huzaifa Ibrahim ’24 defeated Haverford’s Andrew Glaser (one of the top-ranked juniors in the U.S.) by a 3–0 score. It was a heated contest, and Ibrahim remained perfect on the season (and has yet to drop a single game).

“There were some really outstanding points all the way down the ladder, but in the end, we got what we came for: a learning experience,” said Mercersburg head coach Ryan Tyree. “As our program strives toward the same level of excellence, it was inspiring to play against a team so accomplished.”

The Storm visits Woodberry Forest School Saturday, February 5, for the WFS Boys’ Squash Play Around beginning at noon.
